Twenty years ago, creative economy centered around a perspective focusing primarily on the economic impact of creative industries. Fast forward to today, and in 2016, we hear this term used broadly to describe a wide array of activities related to the importance of creativity as an economic driver. Historically, the definition focused on the economic impact of the production of creative goods and services, but major shifts in the economy related to technology and the internet have expanded the definition. The revised definition focuses on the economic advantage that companies with the capacity to solve problems creatively and innovate have over those relying on more traditional practices.
